Origins
Tenkay Electronics, was established in 1982 as a specialised independent
component distribution company mainly servicing the local market place.
In 1984, Tenkay formed a strategic alliance with Prototype
Electronic Services, a sub contract assembly manufacturing company.
The two companies, although under the same management
and occupying the same premises, continued to operate separately in
their respective market places of Component Distribution and
Sub-Contract Manufacture.
In January 1996, the two companies
totally merged, trading solely as Tenkay Electronics Ltd.
This merger gave
Tenkay the opportunity to reduce overheads, but at the same
time allowed customers to continue to benefit from both our
Component Distribution and our Contract Manufacturing Service. Contract Manufacturing is now
our core activity, but our component procurement expertise remains, meaning clients can benefit from
lower costs of manufactured assemblies.
Based in Lancing, West Sussex, we have a 16,000 sq ft
factory where all of our production work is carried out. We have automated
equipment for surface mount pcb assembly as well as flow soldering for
conventional components, all carried out in an antistatic safe
environment. For wire preparation we have a range of automated cutting,
stripping and crimping machines. Investment in this type of assembly
automation enables Tenkay to remain competitively price in the market
place. For cable testing we operate a fully automatic cable testing unit
to check for continuity, short circuit, and insulation flash test.
